[Updates: Adonis filled in a few details. 11/15]
Our second year was a big year. No more classes in the APEX – we had our own building. No more just one grade – we had freshmen and sophomores. Sixty-odd kids? Now 150. No more teensy staff of 6½ teachers and 5 others. Now just a tiny [...]

Everyone is glad when school is over, even those of us who like it. It’s been a long year, and a break is welcome.
I’m excited for next year. I’ll be back to scheduling and teaching just 3 classes, not 5. So while I will still be cranky, I’ll have less of a good reason.
I’ll get [...]

Not the show. The bus. And the other bus. “We’re on the road to nowhere…”
Half the freshmen drove the ducks. “We’re on the road to nowhere…”
And then there was the Russian braid puppet show, featuring teachers wandering about, looking for teapots. “We’re on the road to nowhere…”

Got called a jerk yesterday. And the kid (it was a kid) really meant it. I just sat there.
Hmm. I didn’t much like it. But I was pushing the kid, hard. And I’ll keep pushing the kid. Mediocre performer, not serious enough, should be a star. We’ll see.
Sometimes I am a jerk. This time? I [...]

Ghost the Bunny in all the algebra classes. Hop high!
Free constructions in geometry. Jared figured out the circles eating circles!
Retest in geometry after school. 6 freshmen were brave enough – all did better!
Isabelle knocked 7000 push pins all over my office, and then cleaned them up. Not really that interesting, but she expects to read [...]

I owe you guys one – that was horrible. We practiced, I thought I could do it, but all that pressure in front of you. I didn’t know the words. Plus, even if I tried, I don’t think I could have gotten high enough to do Jasmine.
But did you guys know Elizabeth had such a [...]

Nothing cutesy here. Just a thanks to all who participated.
Special thanks to the 33 freshmen who sat there and patiently worked through 25 difficult questions to find the 5 or 6 they could do.
I’m proud of all of you.

My old algebra class didn’t meet today. Shame.
My idiot friend with the same birthday as me called during logic. I thought, it’s probably my idiot friend with the same birthday as me, wishing us a happy birthday. And it was.
The people in the office knew, and they said happy birthday.
In geometry “someone” asked me to [...]

It’s good to be back. Then why am I thinking “Five months left.”? And missing Barber before she’s gone.
Now I’m teaching all three algebra classes. Fun for me! Fun for me? Fun for me.
Help!
Any seniors wanna help teach algebra?
I’ll give you stickers…

Fridays are always good
During lunch some sophomores were reading Brave New World aloud to each other on the couch by my office (Charisse. Who else?) And I rested (napped??) on the floor for a few minutes while they read. Quite pleasant.
Geometry projects showed loads of effort. And algebra projects were amazing. I like it [...]
